A Mount Maunganui home and a Tauranga renovation have taken top honours at this year's regional House of the Year awards.
The Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders 2016 House of the Year competition has been held with a gala dinner at ASB Stadium tonight.
D&B Construction Limitedwon seven regional awards with the Mount Maunganui home, including the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders 2016 Supreme House of the Year, a Gold Award and Category win for the Carters New Home $1 million - $2 million award.
The company also won the Craftsmanship Award, the Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award, the Outdoor Living Award, and the Gerrand Flooring Interior Style and Design Award for the same property.
Todd Grey Builders Limited was awarded the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders 2016 Supreme Renovation of the Year, a Gold Award and Category win for the Renovation Award over $500,000.
Judges called the winning House of the Year simply amazing, from its exceptional design through to the amazing craftsmanship executed by the builders.
"This is a stunning home built on a very tight site. It sits closely between two other houses all accessing the same driveway.

"This was a complicated project executed with utmost precision. The key challenge was building the multi-level home with only a 4.5 metre wide access way. This, with the need to share the space with neighbours and no parking space for trade vehicles made the project management very difficult.
"The home was built with a large amount of structural steel, and had many vertical and horizontal angles. The installation of the vertical cladding was of a rare standard, and the attention to detail made it a very worthy winner of this category.
"The home oozed personality with its edgy interior which unfolded with intrigue from level to level. This was a clever design that adapted to the nature of the site. There were five levels in total, each one being modest in size, and flowing seamlessly from space to space.
"The outdoor barbecue area connected well to the kitchen, and led to another hidden space below that was accessible from the teenage retreat."
Judges called the winning Renovation of the Year a substantial renovation that transformed the single level house into a modern and stylish home.
"Good design and careful consideration to detailing and material selection has produced a unique and very special home.
"The builder has maintained a very high standard of workmanship throughout, and is a well deserving recipient of this award. This was a very pleasant home to judge."
The winning builds were celebrated by members of the Bay of Plenty & Central Plateau Registered Master Builders Association and members of the local construction industry.
There were 16 Gold Award winners from Bay of Plenty & Central Plateau which will now be judged against Gold Award winners from around the country to find the National Gold Reserve finalists.
The national awards will be held in Auckland in November.
