Bay crash brings power lines down

Local emergency services are responding to a single-car crash after a car hit a power pole in Kairua Rd, Papamoa bringing power lines down.

Northern Fire Communication spokesperson said the 111 call was received at 10.17am.

There are no reports of significant injuries but two sets of power lines came down near the Kairua Rd railway crossing, the spokesperson said.

The power authority is still in attendance and the Rail authority has been notified.

Police and St John ambulance were also called to the scene.

Traffic is still flowing.

No further information about the crash is available at this time.
