The condition of baby Devon Hacche who was taken to Starship Children's Hospital after swallowing a battery has deteriorated.
The 8-month-old has been the subject of an appeal for donations towards his treatment after he swallowed a lithium-ion button battery just before Christmas.
His aunt Susie Bennell said he had
been taken in for surgery this afternoon, following an operation on Friday.
''Unfortunately, overnight and this morning Devon has gone downhill. He has been vomiting again and having difficulty breathing.''
Ms Bennell said the family were praying for a miracle and wanted to thank everyone for their support and generosity.
