A Te Puke woman who whacked a woman over the head with a full bottle of beer could face a jail term.
Ariana Smith, 28, pleaded guilty to one charge of injuring with intent to injure and a breach of community work in Tauranga District Court last week, and was remanded
on bail pending sentence on May 5.
Judge Thomas Harding said while he was calling for a home detention appendix, that was not to be taken as indication that Smith would escape a jail term. Both sentencing options would be open to the court.
The assault occurred in the early hours of January 13 several hours after the victim began receiving text messages from somebody unknown to her.
