A joint partnership between Sport BOP, the Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Beyond Adventure Racing will see the Papamoa hills come alive over the next three months.
The King of the Hill series, consisting of three different monthly races spanning October to December, has come out of Sport BOP's
Virtually on Track project designed to increase the use of local parks and reserves.
The first race, to be held on October 15, will be run over 3.2km before the distance gradually ramps up for the November and December editions.
There will be three age divisions - Prince/Princess (under-18), King/Queen (18-64) and Lord/Lady (65+) - with participants to fight it out for the various crowns as well as points that will determine an overall club crown.
Points will be awarded for participation, podium placement and winning. The club with the most points at the end of the third event will receive honours.
