A strong contingent from Hamilton Hawks made for close racing at Tauranga Domain on Saturday where strong head winds tested the strength of the athletes in the home straight.

Cameron French was the star of the meeting with a narrow victory 10.90s over Kodi Harman of Tauranga Ramblers with 10.95s into a 3m head wind. Michael Goldie (Tauranga Ramblers) was third in 11.41s.

Tauranga's Mariah Ririnui (Hamilton City Hawks continued her winning way with a 12.50s victory over Abby Goldie (Tauranga Ramblers) in 12.60 with Lake City's Molly Florence running 13.05s in third. Brooke Somerfield (13.09s, Tauranga Ramblers) took out the second heat ahead of her club mate Lauren Henry 14.41s. Ethan Holman won heat two of the men's 100m in 11.79s from Nicholas Corban of Hill City and Isaac Amaru of Bellevue Club.

French made it a double with victory in the 400 metres in 47.81 from team mate Jonty Rae second in 51.30s with Canada's Joren Manz third in 51.67, while Matthew Connolly won the second division in 50.64s. Kristie Baillie and Veronika Lang were first and second for Hamilton City Hawks in 56.22s and 58.64s respectively with Taryn Davey third in 58.71s.

Amy Robinson (Tauranga Ramblers) topped the women's Long Jump, 5.68m, with Ririnui next with 5.62 and Somerfield 5.28. Stephen Buckley (Takapuna) 6.63m and Chris Goodwin with 6.22 were the top men. In the High Jump, Sarah Cowley (Bays Cougars) won in 1.78m which was equalled by Hamilton Hawks men's pair Kartik Ghansela and Christopher Goodwin. Luke Davison (Bays Cougars) had the Javelin out to 51.85 metres.
