Armed police help police to find 'person of interest' in Welcome Bay

A police presence has been seen in Welcome Bay this morning.

A Bay of Plenty Times reporter said uniform police cars and what looked to be a tactical unit was seen at an address on Kaitemako Rd.

A loudspeaker was also being used.

A police spokeswoman said it was a "pre-planned warrant looking to locate a person of interest."

The Armed Offenders Squad assisted as a precaution, she said.

The person was not found and inquiries were ongoing to find them.
