A person has been assaulted and had their phone stolen after an incident in Mount Maunganui.

Police were called to the robbery on Marine Parade near Pacific and Banks Aves about 6.25pm, a police spokeswoman said.

A victim was allegedly assaulted by two people and their phone was taken, she said.

Police were unable to locate the alleged offenders and inquiries were ongoing.
