Te Puke residents are without power after a power pole caught fire this afternoon.

Two crews from Te Puke were called to Rangiuru Rd about 1.55pm.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the fire on the single power pole was out when they arrived.

According to Powerco, 96 properties have been without power since 1.56pm.

It is expected to be restored at 5pm.
