Two people injured after separate crashes involving cyclists

Two people have been taken to hospital with moderate injuries this morning after two seperate crashes involving cyclists.

The first crash happened between a car and cyclist near Tauranga Primary School.

A police spokeswoman said police were alerted to the incident at 8.08am.

The crash happened on Cameron Rd near the intersection with Fifth Ave.

The age of the cyclist is not clear at this stage.

A St John spokesman said one person was taken to Tauranga Hospital with moderate injuries.

Meanwhile, there was another crash between a van and a cyclist on Waihi Rd near the intersection of Montgomery Rd at 8.20am.

Police and ambulance attended.

One person was also transported to Tauranga Hospital with moderate injuries.
