A person is in a critical condition after a crash on Turret Rd this afternoon.

The single-vehicle crash happened just after 2.45pm today at the intersection of Turret Rd and Fifteenth Ave, said a police spokeswoman.

She said one person had been taken to Tauranga Hospital in a critical condition.

Both lanes are open and flowing but there are delays.

A St John's spokeswoman said two ambulances attended the scene.

A photographer at the scene said witnesses thought the crash was related to a medical event. It happened near the Silver Birch Holiday Park.

The incident happened in a similar place to where a person died after a medical event on Sunday.
