Thousands of Tauranga residents were at the mosque. Made with funding from NZ On Air.

"They're here to appreciate us, to give us strength, to support us, to love us. This is how they show their love, so we should support their love."

These were the words of Muhammed Amin after a large haka outside the Tauranga Mosque.

Thousands gathered today to support the Muslim community.

People were invited to pray on prayer mats set up outside after the two minutes of silence.
