A car has hit a tree in Te Puna.

A police media spokeswoman said police were called to the crash on Clarke Rd between State Highway 2 and Te Puna Station Rd at 12.30pm.

One person was involved in the incident and was being checked over by St John Ambulance staff, the spokeswoman said.

"It does not appear anyone was seriously injured," she said.
