Remedial work is set to start on the Waikareao Estuary side of the Takitimu Drive pathway, between the stockpile area (opposite Graham Park) and the first pedestrian overbridge on Monday.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said in a statement that wet weather had damaged a section of the finished pathway and caused the surface to become uneven.
Work to even out the pathway was scheduled between the hours of 7am – 5pm, and was expected to be completed by November 16, weather dependant, the statement said.
The state highway shoulder will be closed, however, pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to cross SH2 at 11th Avenue to access the cycle path on the Cameron Rd side of SH2, or use two over-bridges to access the inland pathway and the town centre. Cyclists may also use the highway to commute.
