A child has been hit by a car in residential Tauranga today.

Emergency services were called to The Drive, Brookfield, at 9am.

A police media spokesman said shortly after police had just arrived and it was not yet known how seriously injured the child was, if at all.

The collision happened near Warwick St.

A police media spokeswoman has now said the child was not injured. Officers were stood down, she said.
