A man and a dog have died in separate incidents in Pāpāmoa today.
At 10.30am emergency services were called to a crash involving a car and a dog on the Tauranga Eastern Link, about a kilometre south of Domain Rd on State Highway 2.
A police media spokeswoman said there was debris from the car on the road but there was no blockage or closure of the highway. It was understood the driver of the car was not injured.
However, "the dog didn't make it".
Earlier this morning, emergency services were also called to an incident where they worked on a man on the side of SH2, near the Pāpāmoa Domain Rd turn off.
The spokeswoman said it appeared the man had pulled over to the side of the road and attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
It appears he was an older person, the spokeswoman said.
