A site investigation is underway into why hundreds of people have been left without power in Pyes Pa.

A total of 894 properties have been left without power since just after 2pm, with restoration expected about 8pm. Powerco officials are investigating the cause.

The Pyes Pa residents are among the thousands who have had power cuts in the last two days.

Yesterday, power was out to 575 properties in Greerton between 1.38pm and 2.38pm and to 1092 properties in Papamoa between 1.37pm and 7.37pm.
