Man dies after State Highway 29A crash related to medical incident

An 82-year-old Mount Maunganui man has died after being involved in a crash on State Highway 29A yesterday, police say.

The Western Bay's acting head of road policing Sergeant Wayne Hunter said the man had suffered a medical event that led to the crash.

He understood the man died in Tauranga Hospital last night.

Police would not be investigating the crash further, Hunter said.

Emergency services were called to the crash near the Maungatapu Rd on-ramp about 10.40am on Sunday.
