Crash blocks lane on SH2 near Cambridge Rd in Tauranga

A member of the public is directing traffic at a crash on State Highway 2 in Tauranga.

The crash happened about 8.50am on the Cambridge Rd offramp to State Highway 2.

A police spokesman said officers were called after a black commercial vehicle and a white truck collided.

A lane on SH2 is now blocked as emergency services and contractors work to clear the scene.

The spokesman believed people in the vehicles suffered minor injuries.

A witness told the Bay of Plenty Times a woman was directing traffic around the crash and was doing "a brilliant job".
