Police still on the lookout for fleeing driver

Police are still searching for a man who crashed while fleeing from police in residential Papamoa yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said police stopped the man's vehicle on Dickson Rd near Grant Place about 1.20pm on Tuesday.

When the police officer got out of the vehicle, the driver took off in his car before crashing into another car and was taken to Tauranga Hospital.

A woman who was injured in the collision was also taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

A police spokeswoman said the man was described as carrying either a bag or something similar to a toolbox.

At 2.20pm another crash involving two cars happened on Domain Rd, between Tara Rd and The Gardens Drive.

The police spokeswoman said one of the drivers stayed to exchange details but the other driver left the scene.
