To celebrate the beginning of summer a group of about 20 people are working out for a full 12 hours.
Tauranga's Moana Radio is welcoming summer with 12 Hours of Fitness, completing 10 different fitness activities from 6am in the morning through until 6pm today.
This initiative is part of the radio station's Health and Fitness Show 'Māorivation' providing two hours of informative radio about nutrition, health and fitness, local success stories, local sport promotion, sporting celebrities and also puts emphasis on helping local charities such as Diabates Help Tauranga, Breast Cancer Services, Ukaipo Smokefree Pregnancies and more.
Moana Radio station manager Takiri Butler said the aim was to "highlight and promote some of the cool community fitness programs that are available to our people as well as focus on the awesome recreational areas we have around us such as Papamoa Hills, Mauao, Pilot Bay".
"There's so much to do here in Tauranga so we've spread this event from Te Puke through to Papamoa, Arataki, The Mount and then finishing in Tauranga," Butler said.
