Police warning after man approaches women at Mount Maunganui

Police want to hear from anyone approached by a man behaving in a creepy fashion at the summit of Mauao at Mount Maunganui.

Senior Sergeant Mike Membery said police received a report yesterday that man was seen acting suspiciously at the summit between 7.30pm and 8am on Wednesday.

"A pair of women were at the summit when the man began taking pictures of them on his cell phone and followed them down the track."

Mr Membery said police were looking into the report and wanted to hear from anyone who experienced something similar that day.

It is understood another woman was approached by the man at the summit that night.

Mr Membery encouraged people to call police as soon as possible if they saw suspicious behaviour.
