Jackson went the distance with former world champion Anthony Mundine in Brisbane in early 2014. In 2015 he received a late notice call-up to fight 2012 Olympic champion RyotaMurata in Las Vegas. Jackson showed plenty of courage to go the distance with a boxer that fight critics are predicting will win a world title in the near future.
On Saturday evening, Jackson will square off with Iraq-born Sivan Hermez, who has been in the ring with a who's who of top-line Kiwi professional boxers in his 17-bout career.
"Gunnar is stepping up two weight divisions against a boxer who will try to constantly apply pressure throughout the bout, which should make for an entertaining bout," Walker said.
"Gunnar has a fight against unbeaten Shay Brock in November, with the contest with Hermez the ideal lead-in to another big occasion for our boxer."
An 18-month break from boxing will end for Anthony "TNT" Taylor when he climbs into the ring on Saturday night.
"Ants could face a real challenge when he meets Nick Hikuroa in six rounds of welterweight action. Nick has an aggressive style and any ring-rust shown by Anthony could be severely tested, with fireworks likely to break out during the bout," Walker said.
