A new affordable housing project in Omokoroa was officially launched today.
Western Bay mayor Garry Webber, National MP Todd Muller and developers Peter Cooney and Mark Lagerberg from Classic Builders were there to cut the ribbon.
The 17ha special housing site near Omokoroa Rd planned to have around 240 houses with price tags starting below $350,000.
Omokoroa was the first Special Housing Area approved in the Western Bay district under the Government's Housing Accord Strategy.
Under special housing legislation 25 per cent of the homes would be priced under $350,000, 25 per cent would cost between $350,000 to $400,000 and the remainder more than $400,000.
