A Lotto player from Papamoa has won $500k. Photo/file

A lucky punter in Papamoa is half a million dollars richer tonight after winning Lotto.

The winning ticket was bought from Pak N Save Papamoa.

A Powerball player from Whangarei won $5.5 million with Powerball First Division in tonight's Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold at Sunnyside Foodmarket in Whangarei and was made up of $5 million from Powerball First Division and $500,000 form Lotto First Division.

The win came a week after a young couple from the Hibiscus Coast in Auckland won $44 million - the largest prize ever won in New Zealand.
