Western Bay journalist and photographer Richard Moore has won an award for a travel photograph of the Mona Lisa.
Moore won the Air Vanuatu and Mangoes Resort Award for the Best Travel Image taken Outside New Zealand at the recent Cathay Pacific Travel Media Awards 2016.
His photo, published inthe Bay of Plenty Times in September 2015, was entitled "Selfie Heaven", with the caption:
"Battling the crowds in front of the Mona Lisa is not easy. In a heaving hall in the Louvre museum, this was the best way to capture the crush of people wanting to see and photograph her".
He also got runner up in the same category for his image published in Let's Travel magazine of a warrior issuing a challenge at the Solomon Islands.
