The Mitre 10 Cup match between the Bay of Plenty Steamers and Taranaki will be held at the Tauranga Domain August 20.

Supporters from both teams are invited to head in Tauranga for lunch and to enjoy the free Fans in Town programme at Masonic Park from 11am to 2pm.

Tauranga City Council and Bay of Plenty Rugby Union are encouraging fans attending the pre-match entertainment and the game to come into town by bicycle, bus or by sharing a ride.

Bike racks would also be provided inside the ground.

Travel would be free on the Tauranga Bayhopper network for all game ticket holders from 10am on game day, and departing from Willow Street bus stops after the game - thanks to the Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

See www.baybus.co.nz or call 0800 4 BAY BUS (0800 4 229 28) for more information.

Tauranga City Council city events manager Pip Loader said the event was exciting for Tauranga and as a result there would be more cars and foot traffic in the CBD areas, as well as a few road closures.

"The road closures are to provide a safe environment for the rugby supporters and general public to walk between the city centre and the Domain, and we encourage people to come into town by cycling, sharing a ride or taking the free bus".

Tickets to the game are available from the Baycourt box office or www.ticketmaster.co.nz.

If tickets are not sold out prior to game day they will be available to purchase from Baycourt or at the Tauranga Domain prior to kick-off.

BOP Rugby Union Sales and Relationships Manager Craig Wilson said the tickets were selling fast and urged fans to make sure they don't miss out.
