A Tauranga woman who crashed into a police patrol car while sitting at traffic lights has been charged with drink driving.

The 51-year-old allegedly drove into the rear of a stationary police about 10.50pm at the intersection of Cameron Rd and 15th Ave last week.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing Sergeant Wayne Hunter said no one was hurt in the nose-to-tail collision. However, when police examined the woman she recorded allegedly an alcohol breath level of 332 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.

The limit for an adult is 250mcgs.

Mr Hunter said the patrol car was now at the panel beaters getting repaired.
