A car has hit a lamp post on Maunganui Rd, near Spur Avenue.

A police communicatyions spokeswoman said no one had been injured but police were on scene to direct traffic while the scene was dealt with.

She said the road and traffic would not be majorly affected but there might be slight delays for motorists.

Powerco had arrived to handle the downed lamp post.
