Two people have been injured in a crash at Waihi Rd.

Western Bay of Plenty Police head of road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said the crash was reported at 9.19am as a two-car crash.

Mr Campion said an occupant in each car was injured, one had head injuries and the other had an injured leg.

Ambulance and fire crews were on the scene and the crash was disrupting traffic.

Mr Campion said the Takitimu Dr off ramp to Waihi Rd was closed and asked motorists to avoid the area if possible.
