Serious crash at Katikati, traffic diverted

A person has been seriously hurt in a crash on State Highway 2 near Katikati this morning.

A northern fire communications spokeswoman said two cars crashed near Wharawhara Rd about 8.20am.

Emergency services are at the scene and diversions have been put in place, with traffic being asked to travel along Tetley Rd and Marshall Rd.

The crash is the second to close SH2 to traffic this morning.

One person is dead after a ute and a truck collided near Maramarua this morning, causing the ute to flip. The driver of the ute, believed to be in his 50s, died at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the scene, near Steen Rd on State Highway 2 about 5.40am.
