Attend talks and demonstrations and get creative yourself by creating a zine. Entry is free, zines for sale as well as other merchandise. For all ages, though some zine content is adult-themed.
Escape! Festival Where: Baycourt Community and Arts Centre When: Saturday to Monday from 10am Speakers include Dame Anne Salmond, chef Peter Gordon, microbiologist Siouxsie Wiles, journalists Rod Oram and Steve Braunias, former Cabinet minister Margaret Wilson, novelists Nicky Pellegrino and Greg McGee. Performance, story-telling and workshops for all ages. Includes some free events.
Rage in the Cage 2 Where: Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre, Cnr of Devonport and 11th Ave, Tauranga When: Saturday, 5pm - 11pm Live mixed martial arts/kick-boxing event, showcasing local and North Island fighters. FASH Tauranga Where: Bethlehem Hall, 239a State Highway 2, Bethlehem When: Saturday, 9am - 2pm Fabric, Abandoned Stitchery and Haberdashery - a fair where stitchers, sewers, quilters, knitters, embroiderers, button collectors and fabric lovers can bargain, barter or buy. Table spaces can be purchased for $30 and all proceeds go to the Te Puna Quarry Summer Trust.
