A heavy rain warning has been issued for the Western Bay of Plenty.
The Metservice said heavy rain was expected this evening and Monday morning, bringing rain with some heavy falls for Coromandel Peninsula and Western Bay of Plenty from Tauranga northwards.
There was the possibility that rainfall accumulations could reach warning criteria, for instance 50 to 70mm in six to 12 hours, in the Bay of Plenty from this evening until early Monday morning.
The forecast was for heavy rain this evening for the Western Bay of Plenty to Tauranga. In three to six hours from 6pm Sunday 50mm to 80mm was expected to accumulate. Peak intensities of 20mm to 30mm per hour are possible.
Thunderstorms and localised downpours were also possible.
