A busy Tauranga intersection came to a standstill after a car crash this morning.

Traffic at the junction of 15th Ave and Cameron Rd was briefly brought to a stop when two cars collided about 8.35am.

A car remains sitting in the west-bound lane on 15th Ave near Tauranga Boys' College, facing the opposite direction.

A reporter at the scene said traffic was now moving again without issue, as emergency services work to clear the scene.

The reporter said it appeared a car headining west had been travelling along 15th Ave when it attempted a U-turn before the lights. The car then smashed into another car, stoving in the passenger front seat door and pushing the car across the wrong side of the road.

The second car was now parked on the pavement while the other sits in the middle of the road.
