For Kate Maguire (pictured), the trip to work from her central city home is much quicker along Takitimu Drive Toll Rd. Ms Maguire is the production manager at Jenkins Freshpac Systems in Tauriko and uses the road, formerly Route K, to get to and from work every day. The only heavy traffic she encounters is at the Elizabeth St roundabout.

"It's much quicker than Cameron Rd. When I first moved to town, even when the physical toll booth was there it took me seven minutes versus 15 minutes along Cameron Rd, and that's at 6 at night, so there wasn't much traffic. It takes me 15 minutes max most days with the congestion at Elizabeth St."

Ms Maguire says the electronic toll booth is more convenient, with a work account set up to pay tolls automatically.
