Earlier this morning a Tauranga man was rescued from the bush near Aongatete Lodge after suffering a "serious medical event".
Due to the seriousness of his condition the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter used its Port of Tauranga rescue winch to pluck the seriously ill man from the bush.
The 62-year-old man had been checking track and river conditions before the start of the annual Kamai Goat event.
He was around 20 minutes walk from the Aongatete Lodge when he suffered a serious medical event.
