Part of State Highway 29 is blocked after a truck lost its load near Barkes Corner at Pyes Pa.
The truck is blocking the highway between the roundabout and the intersection of SH29 and Takitimu Drive.
A reporter at the scene said Tauranga-bound traffic was being diverted through Takitimu Driveas emergency services cordoned off the east-bound lane on SH29, heading towards Pyes Pa.
West-bound motorists were still able to use the highway but traffic was heavily backed up and travelling very slowly, the reporter said.
The incident is the latest in a string of highway closures following crashes around the region today.
The Old Highway at Whakamarama is currently closed to traffic following a truck and trailer crash this morning. The unit rolled, near the Youngson Rd intersection.
Cranes are required to help retrieve the vehicle and Western Bay of Plenty District Council warned the road is likely to be closed until
