Tauranga Mayor Stuart Crosby says he is pleased at the level of Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) uptake locally, and he is encouraging all local residents to find out how they can maximise the benefits of access to the network.
"Having Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) available in Tauranga means greater opportunities for our residents, schools and businesses," Mr Crosby said.
"Tauranga is New Zealand's fastest growing city and people here are taking up UFB more quickly than most other parts of the country.
"Fast and reliable internet allows us to keep advancing and the UFB network means we are just as competitive in infrastructure as we are in lifestyle."
To celebrate the completion of the network, Ultrafast Fibre Limited is holding a 'Beyond Broadband' Expo at Baycourt, from March 11 to 12.
Mr Crosby said the expo was a "great opportunity" for Tauranga locals to learn how they could benefit from connecting to the UFB network.
"We want to ensure that everyone can benefit from this. I would encourage all locals to head along and learn how UFB can work for them."
The two-day 'Beyond Broadband' event includes a series of free workshops for the community, students, teachers and businesses.
Ultrafast Fibre chief executive William Hamilton said the Local Fibre Company is looking forward to showcasing the future of "world-class broadband" Tauranga.
"We want as many people in Tauranga as possible to get the best internet experience," said Mr Hamilton.
"Whether you're a novice or an expert, or even an existing UFB-connected business looking to innovate, 'Beyond Broadband' will provide you with practical, relevant advice."
