Some of the Western Bay's better sprinters turned out to contest the 100m club championships at the Athletics Tauranga club night on January 26.
Kyle Trollip won the senior men's title in 11.47 sec and Amy Robinson the senior women's in 12.66 sec. Guest runner Molly Florence SW from Rotoruaput in a fine performance and pushed Robinson all the way before she won by 0.16 sec.
Sean Banks won the M20 grade in 12.75 sec with a margin of 0.15 sec from keen rival Reece Thompson M20.
Only veteran stalwarts Gavin Smith and Russell Lake fronted for the 3000m.
Smith was given a 60 second handicap but that proved too great a start for Lake who managed to claw back 26 seconds but was still 34 seconds in arrears at the finish.
