Bay of Plenty police are asking people to keep an eye out for two tourists following a spate of bag thefts in Auckland.

The Counties Manukau Police have appealed for help to track down two Chilean nationals who police believe can assist with an investigation into a series of bag thefts from overseas tourists at the Auckland International Airport.

Police stated on their Facebook page that the two men were travelling in a rented White Suzuki Swift registration HFB865 and were likely to be staying in short term accommodation.

''We believe they may be in the Auckland area or travelling around the North Island.''

Bay of Plenty police stated recent information suggested the two men were either in Rotorua or were heading that way.
