Tauranga City Council communications manager Aimee Driscoll said geologists were on site again today to complete the rock stability assessment and hazard mitigation ofthe fire ground.
The Waikorere Track remained closed today until the assessment and any mitigation was completed to ensure visitors were not at risk of falling rock. All other tracks were open to the public.
All going well the track should be able to be re-opened at the end of the day, about 5pm, once the assessment and elimination of any immediate stability concerns was completed.
