Goodbye rain, hello sun

Only 1.8mm of rain fell in Tauranga this morning despite the heavy rain.

MetService meteorologist Peter Little said the rain would ease off this afternoon but there would still be "bits and pieces of showers" drifting through the Bay.

Winds would turn from north east to north westerlies later in the day with a high of around 22C, he said.

Mr Little said tomorrow would bring finer weather with southerlies developing and a high of 27C.
