The man accused of ramming a police car and trying to run down a police officer in a stolen car has been remanded in custody.
The man was arrested following a police chase and a large manhunt after allegedly fleeing from police about 4.30pm yesterday.
The man was scheduled to appear in the Tauranga District Court this morning charged with disqualified driving, possession of offensive weapon, aggravated assault on police, reckless driving, failing to stop for police, two counts of assault with a weapon, burglary and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.
However, the man's case was deferred until this afternoon, after waiting on an application for Legal Aid to be granted and a lawyer to be assigned.
