Five extraordinary Bay women are being recognised for their hard work and dedication to their communities by being nominated for a women's clothing store's ultimate fashion make-over and a day of pampering.
It is now down to a public vote to decide which one of the deserving ladies will receive the $2500 wardrobe make-over from Bethlehem clothing store Urban Vogue.
The five women recognised for their work are Sarah Clark, Rosalie Liddle Crawford, Toni Heke Ririnui, Nic Wakerley and Angela Warren-Clark.
Sarah Clark, a permanent foster parent and co-founder of Super Young Arthritics of NZ, said she was humbled to be nominated but felt the recognition towards Super Young Arthritics was more important.
Nic Wakerley, advocate and chairwoman of the Bay of Plenty branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand, was surprised with her nomination but welcomed the attention it would bring to Cystic Fibrosis.
Toni Heke Ririnui, kaiako (teacher) and community motivator from Te Wananga o Aotearoa, was shocked and felt the work she did was not "anything extra".
Rosalie Liddle Crawford, community connector from Rise Up Tauranga, and Tauranga Women's Refuge manager and advocate Angela Warren Clark could not be contacted yesterday.
Urban Vogue started the competition last month by calling for public nominations of women who put in hard work for their communities and who often "fly under the radar".
Store owner and competition organiser Vicki Burns wanted the opportunity to recognise some of the women who make a difference in others' lives.
"So many women are doing extraordinary things, but many fly under the radar," said Mrs Burns.
"Our team work with women everyday, our focus is on making them look good and feel good about themselves."
Mrs Burns believed putting the decision to public vote would help bring attention to the causes they advocated for.
"We felt that by asking the community to vote it would raise awareness of some of the causes these women are working within such as Tauranga Women's Refuge and Homes of Hope to name a few," Mrs Burns said.
"Plus it's an opportunity for many to acknowledge them as individuals by casting a vote."
The package includes a styling session from Urban Vogue's new season wardrobe worth $2500 with local brands Shine Hair Co, Deluxe Beauty and Bella Vi on board to pamper the deserving lady.
