The three men involved in the armed robbery and bashing of a 24-year-old Matua dairy worker have been sentenced to prison.

Shaun Meke Mahia, 17, Tuhukia Tysson Mahia, 18, and Matthew Grant Kingi, 27, were sentenced in Tauranga District Court today.

On May 27 the three robbed the Matua dairy armed with a car jack handle and a piece of galvanised pipe stealing four packets of cigarettes. Shaun Mahia bashed the victim about five times with the car jack.

Judge Cameron sentenced Kingi to four years and five months imprisonment.

Shaun Mahia was sentenced to three years and two months in prison and his older brother was sentenced to two years and seven months in prison.

They were each also ordered to pay $100 reparation.
