Tauranga's Eastern Link is now 75 per cent complete and motorists can expect to be on the highway by the end of next year.

The Paengaroa roundabout about is expected to be open after Easter with finishing touches such as embankments planned for the coming months.

The Te Maunga to Mangatawa interchange already opened and the next section from Mangatawa all the way to Domain Rd is set to open in a month's time.

Wayne Troughton, who is working on the project, said seeing the TEL take shape was extremely exciting.

"I have been on the job for three years now and when I first came there were no roads here, it was just land. Now many of the sections of the TEL are being sealed, it is taking shape."
