UPDATED: Road works have caused traffic in Te Puke township to come to a standstill.
Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said the build up was caused by road resealing and a 50km/h speed restriction being done between Manoeka Rd and the township.
Meanwhile, the Te Puke volunteer fire brigade has been called to an out-of-control rubbish fire on McMeeking Rd.
