The driver involved in a crash resulting in the death of Katikati teen Ricky Pettigrew has been charged.
Police charged the driver with manslaughter, two counts of excess blood alcohol causing injury, two counts of reckless driving causing injury, plus failing to ascertain injury following a crash.
The driver wastravelling in a Ford car that was headed south on Hikurangi Rd, Katikati, on October 28 when he lost control and collided with a tree, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Ricky Pettigrew who was a rear seat passenger.
The 18-year-old driver, also from Katikati, is expected to appear in the Tauranga District Court on January 20.
