"Look in the mirrors frequently" was the only piece of advice I gave myself as I took the car keys from driving instructor Vin Allen.
It's been 17 years since I last sat a driving test and while I'm confident in my driving ability, I know these driving instructors can be pretty picky.
I smiled at Vin as I clicked my seatbelt in, knowing that's one rule he won't get me on.
Vin directs me on to Cameron Rd and I make an obvious show of looking in my mirrors and keeping both hands on the wheel. Driving through Greerton, I dogmatically keep to the speed limit, resisting the temptation to flow with the rest of the traffic. 'He'll struggle to catch me out' I think to myself, starting to get cocky.
About 20 minutes into the test the silence in the car starts to bore me so I strike up a conversation with Vin.
