A Tauranga man caught dealing thousands of dollars worth of hard drugs while on bail for other drug offences has been jailed.
Jamieson Adlam, 31, pleaded guilty to 26 charges relating to possession and supply of methamphetamine, cannabis and cannabis oil.
He was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.
The court heard on Tuesday that in August 2009, Adlam was found with methamphetamine, 15 "point" bags, a set of scales and $3500 in $50 and $20 denominations.
Three months later, while Adlam was on bail, he was stopped again by police and searched.
Police found 9.3g of methamphetamine, 2.5g of cannabis, small plastic bags, a pipe, a gas burner, $1600 in cash and a wallet containing more cash.
The street value of the methamphetamine was estimated at $12,000, and Adlam was said to have already supplied a further 1.4g of methamphetamine.
Adlam's dealing was confirmed by analysis of text messages, the court heard.
Judge Christopher Harding said there was no doubt a term of imprisonment was necessary for Adlam.
"This was commercial dealing involving class A, B and C drugs.
"You offered to sell over 30 ounces of cannabis over two weeks and methamphetamine that totalled over 10 grams," Judge Harding said.
"You continued to offend despite being on bail and all of this offending was aggravated by previous drug offending."
Judge Harding said hard drugs were a "perennial evil" and the community needed to be protected from them.
